       All over the world Buddhists, celebrate the Birth,   Enlightenment, and the Parinirvana of Lord Buddha   on the full-moon Vesak day in May.  it is a full moon   pooya day. The Vesak festival can be celebrated in   many ways. it will depend on the thoughts and the   behavior of the person himself. with their friends   late  into the night defying the At the dawn of day   the  'elders' clad in the white trek to the temple to   observe as the Wesak Festival.                               

This is known of all ages it io a For children a time to try their hands at lantern making, to play about and so on. usual bedtime 'curfew' "on precepts' or 'Ata-Sil'. Others organize to take their families to far- Eway places of specia1 religious significance. Wesak is celebrated in different ways, and preparations get under Way at least a month ahead. Traders get together to erect pandals in public places. These pandals show illustrations from the 'birth stories of the Buddha, and are illuminated with thousands of colored bulbs, and delight the hearts of both young and old. The youth get together and organize 'Dan Sal'. This is to feed or give or thirsty sightseers, who are out late into the night On the first evening usually the entire household, goes to the temple, with Japanese and Chinese refreshments to a nun or the Carly hours of the following morning. neighbors and friends. They come back home and illuminate their homes and gardens, with lanterns that have been made or bought. lanterns are very popular with young children. Candles, colored bulbs, and sometimes with relations or friends eat an early meal and set out sight - Competitions are coconut oil lamps are used for illuminating.

Later on in the night, but more often the following evening the family is seeing.
